MHKP joins Regional Skills Forum to support place-based workforce planning

The Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct was pleased to join the NSW Department of Education at the Regional Skills Forum in Wagga Wagga.

The forum brought together local stakeholders from across community, industry and government to explore place-based workforce development strategies and support the future skills needs of the region.

Members of the MHKP team participated in discussions with The Hon. Steve Whan, Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, about the importance of local workforce planning and the role of regional collaboration in shaping future training and employment pathways.

The forum also provided an opportunity to contribute to the development of a new Regional Skills Planning Model under the NSW Skills Plan 2024–2028.

For the Murrumbidgee, workforce development is a critical regional priority. Rural and regional communities need strong local pathways that support people to train, work and build meaningful careers close to home.

MHKP’s Education and Rural Workforce focus area aims to grow regional workforce capacity through the design and delivery of innovative education and training pathways. This includes working with partners across health, education, industry, business, community and government to identify current and emerging workforce challenges and develop practical, place-based solutions.

Participation in the Regional Skills Forum supports this work by helping connect health workforce planning with broader regional skills, education and employment conversations.

By working in partnership with local stakeholders, MHKP is helping strengthen the foundations for a skilled, sustainable and locally connected workforce across the Murrumbidgee.

Cristy and her husband James have traveled extensively through Russia, China and South East Asia, and have two fur-babies, Sooty (cat) and Panda (puppy). Cristy loves drinking coffee, meeting people to drink coffee, coffee tasting and coffee flavoured cocktails. She also enjoys road trips, TED Talks and watching cat videos on youtube.
