MHKP contributes regional voice to national health research conversation
The Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct has contributed to an important national conversation about how consumers and communities are involved in health and medical research.
MHKP was invited to take part in an NHMRC Roundtable event held in Wagga Wagga, hosted by The Kids Research Institute Australia in partnership with the National Health and Medical Research Council and Consumers Health Forum of Australia.
The session brought local voices together to help inform the final Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research.
For regional, rural and remote communities, it is important that national research approaches reflect the lived experiences, needs and priorities of local people. The Wagga Wagga Roundtable provided an opportunity for participants to share insights that can help shape more inclusive, practical and community-informed research.
MHKP’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting locally relevant research, strengthening regional research capability and advocating for the needs of communities across the Murrumbidgee.
Through its Research Support and Innovation focus area, the Precinct is working to build partnerships between academic research institutions, health sector employees and community, while fostering a research culture that supports practical, evidence-based solutions tailored to rural health needs.
The Roundtable was another valuable opportunity for MHKP to advocate for local people and ensure regional perspectives are part of national conversations about the future of health and medical research.
