Innovating for Impact workshop helps grow regional health ideas
The Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct has welcomed the success of the first Innovating for Impact: Health Entrepreneurship workshop held in Wagga Wagga.
Delivered by UNSW Founders, the workshop brought together clinicians, health leaders, researchers and community members from across the Murrumbidgee health ecosystem to explore how local ideas can be developed into practical solutions that improve health outcomes.
The session created strong discussion around the issues that matter most locally, including healthcare systems and policy challenges, helping patients better access and understand vital health information, pre-operative guidance, children’s health, chronic disease prevention and opportunities for medtech innovation.
Participants were also joined by Dr David Stevens, who shared insights from his journey from academia through to medtech startup growth across the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
MHKP thanked UNSW Founders, Dr Joseph Po and Dr David Stevens for helping bring the workshop to the region, as well as Investment NSW for supporting the initiative.
The workshop demonstrated the energy, insight and innovation that exists across the Murrumbidgee, and the value of creating local opportunities for people to learn, connect and test ideas.
The activity aligns with the Precinct’s Research Support and Innovation focus area, which aims to enhance research opportunities locally, foster an innovation mindset between partners and support practical, evidence-based solutions tailored to rural health needs.
MHKP looks forward to continuing this momentum and building on the ideas generated through the workshop.
